JUNIOR LEAGUE RULES

 

1.     The League shall be restricted to juniors who do not play in the Senior Divisions of the League, except as a reserve. Players who have been registered in Senior Divisions in previous seasons  will need to make a special application to the League Sub-Committee.

2.     Players must be under the age of 17 years on 1st July 2006.

3.     No player may play in a league match until they have been registered with the Hastings Association on an official registration form. The submission of a registration without the appropriate fee shall not be deemed an application for registration.

4.     A match shall consist of 5 events, 4 singles and 1 doubles, with the order of play being as follows: 1.A v X; 2.B v Y; 3.A v Y; 4.B v X; 5.doubles. The home team shall be A/B, the away team X/Y.

5.     A team shall consist of 2 or 3 players, If 3 play any combination may play in the doubles, and if required 2 players may share the singles of the same letter, where the other player plays both the singles of the other letter. Each individual match shall be the best of three games at 11 points.

6.     Each team shall play all other teams in the division as directed by the League Sub-Committee.

7.     All matches shall start at 7.00 pm unless agreed by both teams, and no later than 7.30pm.

8.     All matches MUST be supervised by an adult member of the home club.

9.     Only balls approved by the E.T.T.A. may be used in league matches.

10.  A player may only play for the team in which he/she is registered unless rule 11 applies.

11.  Players may play in any of the divisions higher than that for which they are registered. The only restriction is that if they play for the same team more than four times during the season, then they will immediately become re-registered for that team and division, irrespective of how many divisions higher that may be. For the purpose of this rule the first division of the Junior League is considered to be the last division of the Senior League.

12.  When a club has more than one team competing in a division, a reserve may play for any such team providing that they are not registered for any other team in that division. A reserve may not play for opposing teams in the same match.

13.  The transfer of a player from one club to another may be granted subject to a written application for the transfer being made to the Junior League Secretary by the secretary of the club the player wishes to move to, and the written consent of the secretary of the club the player is leaving.

14.  A team winning a match shall be awarded 2 points. If at the end of the season two or more teams are level on points the winner shall be decided by the number of sets won, and if the teams are still level the result shall be deemed a tie.

15.  Should a winning score be reached in a match not completed due to the loss of suitable playing facilities the result shall stand, as at the time of curtailment, but where a result has not been reached, in such circumstances the whole match shall be played on another date, unless either team agrees to forfeit the unplayed matches.

16.  The home team shall be responsible for the provision of umpires but the away team may share these duties.
